Xmas Windows in Dublin...Sat 17 Nov 2012

Went window shopping and found every sort of shop imaginable!
We have nothing like this at home in Australia that I have seen...
All types of clothing, all different in every shop.
Nothing the same anywhere...eg...no Lowes, no Katies, no Susans', Rockmans, Valley Girl or Just Jeans etc.

The shops have heaps better quality of clothing than any I've seen in the Shopping centres in Aus.
Seems we get dumped with all the Chinese junk left over from everyone else.
Can't believe the amount and variety of top quality things and so far they seem to be 1/3 the price.

Going out to shop later to-day to get jamas, undies, jeans, shoes (probably the only thing a similar price, but they are leather instead of plastic).

So for about 30 Euros, I can deck myself out, except for shoes/boots...too much choice there!

These Boots are stocking smashers for sure...
This shop is the house of bling...
Beautiful shoes...some very dainty. All very affordable.
More bling in the bling house!
More bling clothes...
House of bling's front window...Some pics are enlarged really big, so you'll have to use the slide bar to see all the pic.
Awesome shoes...
Ceilings of awnings have Xmas lights up already...
Xmas decs are up but not turned on yet...The streets were packed on Friday arvo...people everywhere, even in the drizzle.
Amazing...Crowded shops, I can't believe the crowds the shops get...
Lovely flowers... only 5 Euro each...about $6 Aussie Dollars or so...
Xmas windows already adorned...
Closer view of the lady in the previous shot. They had the snow falling on all the displays...beautiful.
It was a bit hard standing in the crowded streets, waiting until people passed or most just went behind me!
Beautiful displays...
This shop went full out on Xmas decorating...
This guy just kept walking!
I accidentally pressed some button on my camera and it elongated the shot...dohhh, will get the hang of this camera yet!
Inside Marks and Spencer's dept store...
More Xmas lights...
Inside another store. I had to wait until people had sufficiently dispersed so I could get some shots as mostly they were shoulder to shoulder...In Dublin, yes, Dublin!
Undies in traffic stopping colours here...
These quality bras would be from $15 or more in Aust...Only 3Euro to 7E was all I saw.
More bright colours...Going back here to-day to get some gear.
Dusk descending and more things light up with Xmas lights...
Went looking for Maccas for the free WIFI as the signal at the hostel was pretty terrible, but couldn't find it! No golden arches allowed over here!
Night time comes and still they crowd the streets...amazing!
Any way you look, at any time, the crowds are there!
Another little display closer to the Hostel...
And another in a shop a few doors down..
Well, so far I've not done one tally of money spent or anything since I've been in Dublin, as I've stuck pretty well to my pre-set budget of around $40 a day...accom about $15 a night average, $10 a day for food and allowing $10 a day average for tours etc, things should be OK.
Travel in Ireland has been free everywhere I've been so far, so all is going to plan thus far!

Arrived in Dublin...Free Paddywagon bus collected me at airport.
Free 3 hour walking tour around Dublin, the /Dublin castle etc etc
Free full day Tour of south of Ireland...
All that saved about 50Euro, just by booking 2 nights in Paddys Palace, Dublin, at $10 E a night!

I think they give the free bus tour to fill up empty seats for the tours they sell, to make it look busy, but hey, it's the same tour! Sells for 28E.

Friday and Saturdays are booked out in Dublin and the prices go from 10 E a night to 19 E for Fri and Sat, then back to 10E for the 5 other nights. People fly across from London, Manchester etc for 80 pounds return on Ryan Air and visit Dublin for a few days, so it's a cheap week-end away for them by staying in a hostel.

In my room so far I've met an accountant, an IT expert, an engineer for the space program, heaps of kids from Spain, Argentina, and Brazil. Surprisingly, there are quite a few kids from Israel too.

Well, that's it...I'm up to date with my pics for you and I'm going up town to buy some winter clothes for the next part of the journey.
I have to book the ferry to Cherbourg then the train to Paris from Cherbourg, then 2 or 3 nights in Paris to do my Phantom research, then off to Amsterdam on the 1 pound Mega Bus fare...which has gone up to 5 Euro! Dang...I wasn't fast enough...Normal fares are from 30 E to over 100E, so I'm not complaining.
