Well, it's finally arrived, our big day!
Went downtown to find our tour guide who said he'd take us from the pheast to the movie and check out the theatre, as he's never seen it and he lives here. He can now add this theatre to his tour agenda for visitors and give a bit of a promo for the next Redux when it draws closer.!
That was one trip of three for the night, the worst one taken care of.
Then we worked out the bus system to the Pheast which is a separate, but complimentary event, which was in Wilshire Blvd in Beverly Hills.
We had to take 2 buses and it only took an hour, meaning we were heaps early!
We must have looked weird again, as it turned bitterly cold and we wore our coats over our dress up clothes and our big walking boots, carried our masks in plastic bags, so as not o break them. |
Can't get the camera to take 'no flash" pics without them going blurry, so found tables etc are good as tripods! We arrived early at the restaurant for the Pheast... |
One of the tables filled with prizes for Pheast guests... |
Another table of gifts...all gifts were hand made! |
The obligatory celebration cake! |
More hand made prizes and gifts for phans for the Pheast... |
Wow...these ladies are full on Phans! |
So much detail in all the work... |
All things Gerry Phantom... |
More things Gerry Phantom... |
Beautiful China masks... |
Little Chandeliers decorated the tables... |
Haven't worked out if these masks are lollipops! |
Val...the woman behind the mask! |
More Phantom gifts... |
This fan is for when I get the vapors when I finally meet Gerry! |
Meat Loaf and vegies...The Pheast theme this year was for the Masquerade dancers, hence the plainer menu... |
A nice vegetable pasta... |
Shrimp and crab salad...for the Diva dancers ...(Val and I had this dish...yummoo) |
A guest...I can't post pics of other guests until they check them! |
This dish looked delicious...turkey and mashed potatoes. The red rose in cellophane is a hand made chocolate! |
All things Gerry! |
Most everyone's fave scene! |
A beautiful book of photos someone won... The pheast finished around 11pm and then everyone headed off to the Vista movie theatre in Hollywood for the screening of the movie. |
Our first view of the theatre at 11.50 pm Sat 10th Nov 2012, Cnr Hollywood and Sunset Blvd, Hollywood. |
Closer... |
I bid you fondest greetings... |
He even had the letter...yes, he got one too! |
Some good scar facing going on here! |
This is Bill our Tour guide from last week. We formed a friendship and asked him to drive us to the theatre in the middle of the night, which he very kindly did, as it was too difficult to catch buses from the Pheast to the movie. |
I turned the pages of this amazing script from Joel Schumacher for Phantom of The Opera... |
Val signing the Redux visitors book... |
moi ausi! |
Memorabilia... |
Real crystals from the 2004 movie chandelier... |
More crystals...great set of earings here! |
Christine's ring...a genuine copy. One of only 1,000 that were produced. |
Note the awesome hair pins below the necklace too... |
This lady made a replica of Christine's dress ...Point of No Return... |
Bill, our tour guide, enjoying himself with all the ladies. He had to work early shift so could not stay for the movie... |
Waiting for the movie to begin... |
Guests had a red rose, tied with the signatory black bow, placed on their seats and rose petals strewn over the carpet... |
3 Phantoms. The great costume on a guest on the left, then the theatre manager, then a singer who serenaded us with Phantom songs while the film was being readied...I thought it was nice that the theatre management got dressed up in theme for the movie too...Loved the touch of authenticity with the hat! |
Val and one Phantom... |
More pics of other guests coming as soon as I get time to send them off for permission to post their pics. |
Not sure about this, but seeing as everything else was the real thing...I'm assuming this was The Key! |
Another great outfit...The movie was as awesome as ever and now its time to go home... |
And so ended our great experience to The Phantom of The Opera Redux 9 in LA 2012!
Val is planning next year's return to Redux and the Pheast already and of course I hope to add these 2 must attend events to my calendar too.
A massive shout out and Thank-you to Martha, Cherrie and Susan and then all in Hollywood and LA who made our USA trip so amazing.
The people are wonderful and everywhere we went, people were just sooo kind to us.
One more full day in USA and it's over...the Music of our night...
