Jumping from 109 stories High...Tuesday, 6th Nov 2012

To-night was the most bizzare experience so far in my life!

On arrival back from the Canyon trip where mother nature made you weep with awe, the mind of man in contrast made us gasp in terror as we watched people willingly jump over the edge of the top of the 109th floor of the Stratosphere hotel we were staying in.

Now that may not sound much, but in the dark, way up there, just trying to stand up without throwing up was an effort of mind control, without trying anything else!!!
Anyways, here goes...

Watch in awe as  I tried to capture something of the crazy deeds of these people...
The Stratosphere Tower and Hotel/Casino...looking harmless enough...

A closer look at the tower reveals a frightening concept...What's that hook thing poking out and that other piece of machinery on the spikey bit going up to heaven looks like a giant drop ride?
We duly arrived back at our hotel, tired and satisfied after a day at the Canyon and had no idea about this free trip up to the top of the tower...The Door-man invited us to go up for the spectacular 360 degree views from the top...so while we were on the go, we went up to the top,  half-heartedly.

These shots are taken thru glass viewing areas...which was scary in itself from waaaay up there, 109 stories high...
Around we go...Vegas at night
Even enclosed by steel and glass, it was a dizzying view...
More views...
Then we dared to go up a floor and onto the open viewing area...
Moonika and Val...
Then we heard screams and looked up and saw a giant drop...We couldn't capture them coming down as we weren't fast enough on our cameras. We had no idea about all of this and were totally unprepared for the fun park up top here...109 stories, 1,000 feet high in the sky!

Then we heard a lot of gasps of disbelief and saw something we couldn't believe...A giant claw holding something out over the edge of the tower...
The thing was spinning very fast and going in and out at the same time and appeared to have people on board?
A closer look...there were real people on board...i thought they must have been dummies until the buckets tipped up and they all screamed...visitors watching screamed too!
Then the thing went really fast, spinning madly...gahhhhh!
A blurr on the top of the tower was all we could see...We couldn't see where they got out or on this thing and frankly we didn't care either!
Then we saw this loading bay and wondered what all the commotion was about...another weird thing happening. People harness up and jump off the top of this building...seriously, they do! And they pay $150 to do so too...

This is Louise from Melbourne who was on that jump above...
This is a pic of the brochure for the spinner thing...
Obviously, the 109th floor...

The names of the rides...
After all that...we needed a drink!
ooops...the camera went off on the bar!
They gave us plastic mugs for our drinks as we didn't have a clue what to order! I had a Margerita and Val had "That white bottle over there" drink $9 plus tax...
So ended day 2 of our 3 day $66 tour package...Awesome value as we had a beautiful room in the hotel for the 3 of us, all that travel, Canyon South Rim National Park entrance, visits on tomorrow's agenda and delivery to and from LA.
